About Lee County Young Democrats

Who we are

The Florida Young Democrats (FYD) has been the official youth arm of the Florida Democratic Party since 1933. Open to anyone under the age of 41 who affiliates with the Democratic Party, FYD is a statewide grassroots organization with 42 chapters throughout the state. With over a thousand members, FYD reflects the broad diversity of our nation and the Democratic Party. This includes young families, professionals, workers, and students. All of the members have the interest of their community at heart and work hard to make Florida a better state and America a stronger nation.

FYD mourns the loss of Florida National Guard Spc. Jeffrey Wershow an Alachua County Young Democrat, killed in Baghdad on Sunday, July 6, 2003

About LCYD...

LCYD is a rapidly growing group of eager

young minds that seek to contribute in our

society by bringing political awareness and

activism to our community. LCYD

started in 2002 and we have since been

involved in organizing and campaigning for

our local and national Democratic leaders.

We are here to say that the young vote will

no longer be underestimated, for it will be an

undeniable factor in this year’s elections!
